Telephone Advice

The doctors can be accessed by telephone between 8:30am and 9.30am each morning.

We request that you try to speak to your usual GP and only if they are absent on the day and your call is urgent will you be offered to speak to another doctor.

For patient safety due to the high demand,  and the re-opening of faace to face appointment, the number of telephone calls has been capped each day, so you may be asked to call back at another time.

Practice Nurse

In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor for the following types of consultations cervical smears, vaccines, BP monitoring etc. The reception staff will advise you when making an appointment.

Home visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by telephoning reception before 9:30am.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will triage your call and only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide the receptionist with suitable details to enable the doctor to prioritise and schedule house calls

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery

If you need help when we are closed

Outside of normal surgery hours emergency medical cover is provided by Lisburn Out-of-Hours Service.

Please call 028 9260 2204. The service is available between 6pm and 8:30am Monday to Friday, all day Saturday and Sunday and bank holidays.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • if you need a chaperone
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Teaching

In association with Queen's University Belfast, senior medical students sometimes attend the practice and "sit in" on surgery consultations. If you prefer to see the doctor alone the receptionist can arrange this for you.

We are recognised as a training practice and as part of the training some surgeries are video recorded. Your written consent will always be asked prior to this and we will inform you when you are making your appointment. The video tapes are used for teaching and training purposes only and are totally confidential
